The War in Iran

Sahra’s official information channel, [22/06/2025]

The biggest of all rogue states has done it again: the USA has invaded a sovereign state with its war of aggression against Iran, in violation of international law. Allegedly to prevent an Iranian nuclear bomb, which, however, even according to US intelligence services, is not within reach for years. In reality, it is clearly about overthrowing an unwelcome regime once again. We already know the outcome of previous US wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria: millions of dead and displaced people, chaos, collapse, civil war and Islamism. Will the highly moral German foreign policy makers now also call for sanctions and international isolation of the US, and for the ostracism of the aggressor Donald Trump, as they did in the case of the Russian invasion of Ukraine? But Friedrich Merz is probably delighted that it is no longer just Netanyahu, but also the world’s greatest military power that is doing the ‘dirty work’ for us. We must not allow this double standard any longer! Diplomacy instead of ‘dirty work’! Peace instead of conflagration!

NATO’s 5% [23/06/2025]

It’s now official: the NATO war and armament alliance wants to oblige its members to spend five per cent of their gross domestic product on the military. The only exceptions are the leading power, the USA, which wants its European vassals to foot the bill for its superpower interests, and Spain, whose government, unlike the German federal government, has the courage to break away from this arms race and point out that it is incompatible with a functioning welfare state and a prosperous economy. Chancellor Merz clearly does not care that spending almost half of the federal budget, 225 billion euros a year, on war preparations and warfare will ultimately ruin the German economy and lead to brutal cuts in pensions, health care and social services. The military budget is set to triple in the next four years, as planned in the federal government’s current draft budget. What madness! I believe we finally need a government that is guided by the interests of our economy and citizens and focuses on diplomacy and détente instead of war and rearmament!

Freedom of the Press in Germany, the case of the magazine Compact [25/06/2025]

The Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig has lifted the ban on the magazine ‘Compact’ imposed by the then Federal Minister of the Interior, Nancy Faeser, in the summer of 2024. You don’t have to be a fan of this magazine to say that this decision is a good one for freedom of the press and freedom of expression in Germany. Because one thing is clear: a ban would have set a dangerous precedent for taking action against other unwelcome media and opinions. It is therefore good and right that the Federal Administrative Court has emphasised that the Basic Law guarantees freedom of expression and freedom of the press ‘even to the enemies of freedom’.

I believe that banning media is just as wrong as banning political parties. It would be good if this decision could also put an end to the debate on banning the AfD, which only serves to strengthen that party. The authoritarian restructuring of the state and society, which Nancy Faeser and the entire traffic light coalition have also promoted, must be stopped and the range of opinion in Germany must be widened again!

It cannot be that opinions that deviate from the mainstream are increasingly marginalised and criticism of those in power is prosecuted. We must not allow freedom of expression in Germany to be crushed!

CDU Support for Israel, [25/06/2025]

Kiesewetter, a CDU member of the Bundestag, is increasingly becoming the mouthpiece of IDF propaganda: The CDU foreign policy expert seriously finds it ‘okay’ and “proportionate” that Israel has killed over 50,000 people in Gaza, the majority of them women and children. Genocide as ‘collateral damage’ in the fight against Hamas? Are you serious?! It is tragic that Kiesewetter’s gibberish ultimately expresses the position of the German government. The latter is known not only to shield the right-wing extremist Netanyahu government from any criticism, but even to support it with arms deliveries in its openly articulated goal of expelling and destroying the Palestinians. What a disgrace!
